The Challenges of Dry Eye Disease

Dry Eye Disease is among the world’s most prevalent eye diseases. More women than men have Dry Eye Disease and its incidence increases with age.1 In fact, one in every eight adults, or 33 million Americans, have some form of Dry Eye Disease.2 And Dry Eye is a disease, not a condition or simple inconvenience. Yet, this complex, multifactorial, progressive, and chronic disease has historically gone underdiagnosed—or undiagnosed.3,4 Dry Eye Access seeks to change this by educating eye care professionals on creating a new expertise around all aspects of Dry Eye Disease.

Zac Denning is the Product Science Specialist at ScienceBased Health (SBH). Having joined the company in 1999, Zac has been with the company since soon after its founding in 1997. After studying biology and biochemistry at Evergreen where he received his Bachelor of Science, Mr. Denning has always had a passion for science. Working alongside scientists, clinicians and researchers, he has had the opportunity to help SBH pioneer new eye nutrition products and categories.
